Kmart Doubles???

There are quite a few rumors that Kmart will be doubling up to (5) coupons per day starting the week of April 4th.   Kmart has been so wishy washy on doubles in the State of Washington that I was going to ignore the rumors completely.  I then heard that the (5) coupons per day would be enforced by the "Shop your way rewards" card from Kmart.  So Here is the link to sign up for the card if you have not done so already and cross your fingers that we will be getting this promo and lot's of free or cheap items.

Meat Prices???

OK Let's talk Turkey. Or maybe just Meat prices.  I've had several conversations lately on what is a good price on meat and is it better to purchase a side of beef.  We used to purchase a side of beef each year. It was really nice knowing the source of our beef but I found that there were cuts of meat that we ate much quicker then others.  And then there were other cuts that I was not as familiar with and it would sit in the freezer forever. So the last two years I have just stocked up on meat when I felt it was a good price. I am not an expert by any means and would love to hear what others think is a good price.

Beef

I purchased 40lbs of 93/7 Ground beef on New Years eve this year at Yokes for $1.99lb (I would pay up to $2.49lb) I also used the $10/$50 purchase from Rosauers.

During the Holidays I picked up (12) Prime Ribs for $2.99-$3.49lb at Winco and FM

I love the Carne Asada (Top round) from Winco I usually stock up at $2.37lb

NewYork Steaks I usually pay $4.99lb

Chicken

I prefer Foster farms and puchased (10) Whole chickens at FredMeyer for .69lb

I also purchase the 6lb bag of chicken breasts from Costco (This is not a great price but I really like the convenience)

Pork

We have found the Safeway select ham to be one of our favorites. Last month they had them on sale for $1.99lb regularly $3.99lb. I purchased 15 half hams.

Pork Loin from Winco at .99lb

Jimmy Dean sausage for Free from Albertsons

Turkey

I picked up four turkeys during Thanksgiving for Free from Safeway

Ground Turkey at Rosauers for $2.49 a package plus some for free

Yes, I buy lot's of Fruits and Vegetables too!

I just received this email. All I could do was laugh.

Dear Michelle (Hello, I'm only one L)

Your deals are fantastic but not realistic for most families. I never see any fresh fruit or vegetables in your purchases. Does your family eat any meat that is not in a frozen meal?

Sincerely, Sara

I should start off by saying that I cook dinner every night. My husband expects meat at every dinner. Ten years ago I made Eggplant parmesan and I still have to hear the story of how I tried to kill him with a vegetarian dinner.   Second I shop Winco every week for our Fruits and Vegetables. I find that they have the best prices on produce.  I sometimes purchase my meat there as well, they do an excellent Carne Asada that my family loves for "Taco Night".  I haven't posted my Winco purchases in quite a while because sometimes I just want to put away my groceries without taking a picture. I can tell you that this week I spent $22.49 on just produce.  What I post about are all the extra fillers that inflate a normal persons grocery bill.  I never have to worry about running to the store because we are out of mayo, ketchup, mustard, pickles, snacks and much much more.  I love this way of shopping! Not only do I save my family tons of money I am teaching my children to be frugal. Couponing is not for everyone, It's actually a part time job. (Well if your as addicted as I am) So no I don't fee my children TV dinners and Fruit snacks for dinner but if they want a snack they know where the pantry is and it's always full. :-)

Yokes Coupon match ups

Leah over at La Vida Cheapo has the match ups for Yokes this week. I haven't even had a chance to look at their ad with everything going on at Safeway and Albertsons this week.  Thanks Leah
